About the event

The Nordic Fund Selection Forum is one of the longest running events dedicated to fund selectors and institutional investors in the Nordic region. The event offers ample opportunities for delegates to meet and exchange ideas with selector peers. The event is also an effective platform to gain insight from leading fund managers across a range of asset classes.

Niklas Tell
Founder & Chief Content Officer at Tell Media Group

Niklas Tell is a founding partner and chief content officer at Tell Media Group, a Swedish based research and publishing company focused on the asset management industry. He is the driving force behind the company’s research, editorial and advisory efforts. Niklas Tell has covered and commented on the Nordic and inter national fund industry since 1998. Prior to establishing Tell Media Group and launching the first local b2b magazine for the Nordic asset management industry in 2006, he helped establish Morningstar in Europe and was its first european director of fund analysis. Niklas Tell has a degree in economics and business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics and is a member of the Swedish Society of Financial Analysts. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and he is often invited to address senior management teams on different topics and trends affecting the asset management industry.

Daniel Morris
Chief Investment Officer of Systematic Investments at Allspring Global Investments

Daniel (Dan) Morris is chief investment officer of Systematic Investments at Allspring Global Investments. In this role, he leads the Systematic Investments teams to provide innovative solutions across systematic equity, fixed income, and multi-asset capabilities. These include enhanced index and factor strategies, liquid alternatives, risk premia, and hedging strategies. Dan's leadership provides a robust governance structure and the scale of technology, machine learning, data services, and operational support while maintaining each team's independent research and investment process to provide the highest-quality quantitative investment capabilities for our clients.

Dan joined Allspring from its predecessor firm, Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM). Prior to this, he served as head of U.S. portfolio solutions at Schroders in New York, where he led the portfolio solutions business for North America. Before New York, Dan provided liability-driven investing solutions to U.K. clients with Schroders in London and led the London investment strategy team at Towers Watson, where he advised clients on asset allocation and hedging strategies. Dan began his investment industry career in the U.K. with HSBC Actuaries and Consultants as an actuarial analyst.

Dan earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Nottingham and is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries, U.K.

Richard Carlyle
Equity Investment Director and Portfolio Strategy Manager at Capital Group

Richard Carlyle is an equity investment director and portfolio strategy manager at Capital Group. He has 42 years of investment industry experience and has been with Capital Group for 18 years. Prior to joining Capital, he was head of equities for Henderson Investors. Before that, he was a fund manager for Morgan Grenfell Asset Management, a pension fund manager for British Petroleum, and an analyst for Equity & Law Life Assurance Society. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with honors from Leicester University. Richard is based in London.

Joined the Company in 2016 with 17 years of industry experience. Prior to joining, Christian worked as a portfolio manager for equities at Universal Investment. Before that, he was a portfolio manager for equities with focus on European consumer stocks at Schadeberg Family Office. Previously, he was a portfolio manager for equities, dividend strategy and a buy-side analyst for European consumer stocks at Sal. Oppenheim. Claus Born,
CFA, Senior Vice President, Institutional Portfolio Manager at Franklin Templeton

Claus Born is a senior vice president and institutional portfolio manager for Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity, based in the Frankfurt office. An integrated member of the investment team, Claus has responsibility for engaging with clients globally across distribution channels to provide solutions and improved outcomes by sharing the team's insights. Through leveraging their combined knowledge, he represents the CIO and portfolio managers in articulating all facets of the team's various investment strategies. Claus has more than 20 years of experience within emerging markets equity markets. Until 2014, he was a member of the portfolio management teams of our Latin America and Frontier Markets strategies. Until 2021, he combined his current role with research responsibilities for Latin American and European companies with large Emerging Markets exposure. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 2000, Claus was a business analyst at Mannesmann Eurokom, a German telecommunications holding company. Claus holds a degree in business administration from the University of Bayreuth (Germany), specializing in finance, accounting and taxation. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He speaks German, English, Spanish and French.

Doug Farquhar
Lead portfolio manager for Green, Social and Impact Bonds Investment Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management

Doug is a lead portfolio manager for Green, Social and Impact Bonds investment strategies within Fixed Income and Liquidity Solutions at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He joined Goldman Sachs as a vice president in 2022 as part of the acquisition of NN Investment Partners, where he was a client portfolio manager for Green Bonds investment strategies. Prior to joining NN Investment Partners in 2020, he was a principal consultant at DNV GL. Doug began his career in 1999 at Capgemini, where he held various roles as consultant, investment associate and transition manager. Doug earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in 1999.

Jana Harvey
BlueBay Senior Portfolio Manager, Emerging Markets at RBC BlueBay Asset Management

Jana is a BlueBay Senior Portfolio Manager within the Emerging Markets Team. Prior to joining BlueBay Asset Management (which is now part of RBC Global Asset Management) in December 2014, Jana was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Rogge, where she co-led the EM team in London and Singapore and managed EM assets across a range of active global fixed income and currency portfolios. Following experience in banking, she started her Asset Management career at Threadneedle in 2006, where she became a deputy fund manager in the Emerging market fixed income team. She holds a BSc in International Economics from the University of Economics in Prague, an LLM in Finance from J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt and a Postgraduate Certificate in Complex System Modelling from King’s College, London. Jana is a CFA charterholder, holds the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing and the CFA Certificate in Climate and Investing (CCI).

Nick Wood
Head of Investment Fund Research at Quilter Cheviot Investment Management

Nick Wood is Head of Investment Fund Research at Quilter Cheviot, a leading UK wealth manager. Nick previously worked at US asset manager Capital Group for 10 years, and investment consultancy Stamford Associates. Nick graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in Economics and a Masters in Russian and Eastern European Studies. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and an Associate of the Charted Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). Externally, Nick sits on the investment committees of King’s College London and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Nick is a regular commentator in UK industry and national press on matters relating to the fund industry and presents the Fund Buyer podcast.

Dr Mike Winnerstig
Head of the department for security policy at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI)

Dr. Mike Winnerstig is the head of the department for security policy at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) since 2018. In that capacity, he runs some 30 employees conducting qualified policy-relevant, applied research on a number of international topics, including Russia, Western states and organisations, Asia and the Middle East, Africa, and thematic studies including Arctic affairs and nuclear weapons policy. He is also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of the War Sciences and a non-resident fellow of the International Center for Defence Studies in Tallinn, Estonia. He has published extensively on the foreign, security and defence policies of the United States, as well as on NATO and related transatlantic security issues. From 2010 onwards his own research has also focused on the security issues of the Baltic Sea area, especially the defence and security policies of the Baltic states. For some six years, ending in 2018, he was a recurring lecturer in international relations theory at the Estonian School of Diplomacy in Tallinn. During his academic career in the 1990s, he was a researcher/teacher at Stockholm University (PhD 2001), a research fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University (1997-98), as well as at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, Germany (1995) and the Centre for Defense Studies, Aberdeen University, Scotland (1994).
